2026 - 2027 Grade 7 Complementary Program Overview


Art 7

  • Grade 7 Art is an exciting, hands-on course where creativity comes to life through exploring a wide variety of mediums and techniques. 
  • Students experiment with clay and sculpture to build form and structure, while also expressing ideas through acrylic paint, watercolour, and oil pastel. 
  • Inspired by a range of artists and styles, students develop their skills, creativity, and confidence as they learn to communicate meaning through their artwork. This course encourages imagination, risk-taking, and personal expression in a supportive and engaging studio environment.

Drama 7

  • Drama 7 is all about unleashing your inner performer with mime, comedy, and puppetry! If you love to laugh and think outside the box, this class is for you!  
  • In Mime we learn the art of silent storytelling, with expressive body movements and invisible objects, you’ll master the power of non-verbal communication.   
  • During Comedy you will develop your comedic timing, delivery, and sense of humor through fun exercises and hilarious performances. 
  • Then in Puppetry explore the world of puppet manipulation in many forms from hand puppets to full size characters. If you want to have fun in a creative space, this class is perfect for you!

Robotics 7 (CTF Electrotechnology 7)

  • This course introduces students to robotics and its applications across a variety of careers. 
  • Working in diverse teams, students will learn the fundamentals of robot design through the use of the VEX IQ robotics platform. 
  • They will program, test, and refine robotics systems, culminating in class-wide challenges and competitions. 
  • As part of this CTF course, students will be able to explore their passion and interests as they learn about the various career possibilities in the Electro-Technology profession.
  • Discover how robotics is shaping the future!

CTF Digital Art & Design 7

  • In grade 7 Digital Art & Design students explore creative possibilities using digital tools and technologies. 
  • Students engage in design thinking and creative processes as they learn how digital artists and designers work in real-world careers.
  • Using Procreate with Apple Pencils on iPads, students build skills in basic design software, including the use of layers, brushes, colour, and digital collage techniques. Students experiment with visual composition, develop creative ideas, and apply intentional decision-making to communicate visually.
  • Through a variety of projects, students explore career pathways in digital art and design, such as illustration, character design, animation, and media arts. Students may also be introduced to basic animation concepts, supporting an understanding of how digital media is created and shared.
  • This course supports the development of creativity, problem-solving, and digital literacy, while encouraging students to explore personal interests and build confidence using digital tools.

Band 7 (Full Year)

  • In Band 7, students have the opportunity to choose their 'forever' instrument from the woodwind, brass and percussion families.
  • The focus of this year-long course is learning how to play and maintain their instrument through clinics, a band camp, performances at concerts and music festivals, and working with guest musicians and conductors.

CTF Construction 7

  • Students will learn the proper use of tools and machinery to construct numerous small projects such as a Jacob's Ladder, Fool Stick, and Phone Organizer. 
  • A final project will focus on a structures and forces unit which requires the construction of either bridges, trusses or towers. Teams will compete against each other during this final project and prizes will be awarded!

CTF Foods 7

  • In Foods 7 students will learn introductory cooking skills while making easy and delicious recipes.
  • Students will be required to use communication skills as they form effective working relationships with their group members.
  • Students will apply and reinforce learning developed in other subject areas.  Specifically, reading comprehension, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and how to read and use fractions will be practiced.
  • This class provides students with important learning opportunities to explore occupation areas and to develop skills that can be applied in their daily lives, now and in the future.
