What an amazing first week it has been! Students have jumped right into new routines, connected with peers and teachers, and shown courage in adjusting to the “newness” of a fresh start at school. It’s been wonderful to see students’ enthusiasm, a mix of excitement and first-week nerves, as we begin this new school year journey together.
A special welcome to all our families and staff that are new to MPS - we are so glad you are part of our learning community and we are looking forward to getting to know each of you better.
Extra-curricular activities are already starting up, so stay tuned for updates each week about the many opportunities to get involved.
MPS School Council AGM | Save the Date
Monday, September 15th at 6pm in the MPS Learning Commons. All are welcome! More information about volunteer positions available will be in next week’s update.
Physical Education
Students are starting to change for class on Monday September 8, 2025. We encourage students to be wearing Gray Shirts and Black Bottoms (shorts, sweats, leggings). Students are expected to change their clothes for physical education class and dress for the weather (hats, sunscreen, sweaters, bug spray, bring a water bottle). Upcoming units include Basketball, Soccer, Black Top, Diamond, Low Organized Games, and Health.
Gym Strips are available for purchase from the physical education office. Gym Shirts are $20.00 and Gym Shorts are $30.00. Students are able to bring cash and purchase at school or parents can email request to Mrs. Lock (dalock@cbe.ab.ca) to have the fees uploaded to PowerSchool for purchase.
Looking forward to an active year!
Clubs
Clubs are an important part of extracurricular life at MPS that students and staff really value. They will be offered at different times of the year and we will have something different for everyone. Watch for announcements in the weekly updates ahead.
NEW! MPS is starting a new club called Stitch and Sip - it is a knitting/crochet/cross stitching and tea (if you want) club that will be held on Thursdays at lunch in Student Services. We will have some basic supplies but bring your own projects if you have already started one. All skill levels welcome! Sign up on door of Student Services.
