MPS Weekly Update | Oct 25, 2024
Library
A BIG Thank you to the parents, Mrs. Laudinsky and her Art students for making the book marks for the adopt a school program, the customers loved the bookmarks.
Our Indigo adopt a School program is complete and we are thrilled to share the results of the Indigo Love of Reading Adopt a School Fundraiser. Through our school community's hard work and generosity, and the support of stores fundraising on our behalf, an incredible $4,672 has been raised to support literacy initiatives at Mountain Park School!
This accomplishment is a testament to our dedication, and we couldn't be more excited about the positive impact these funds will have on the students.
Grade 8/9 Sailing Trip
Are you interested in visiting the West Coast and sailing amongst the Gulf Islands? We have space for 15 Grade 8/9 students to come on the Sailing Trip, pending interest. Sailing trip dates are: April 11th – April 16th, 2024.
Parent Information Meeting: Oct 29th from 5:15-6:30 pm in the MPS Learning Commons
Take Our Kids to Work Day (Grade 9 only) – Wednesday, Nov 6th
On Nov 6, Grade 9 students are able to accompany an adult (usually parent/guardian/family member) to their worksite to learn more about their workplace. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about what a workday may look like and allow them to start thinking about employment, career planning and life after high school. If you would like your child to accompany you to your workplace on this day, please email your child’s homeroom teacher (found in your my CBE PowerSchool Account under My Schedule - Friday) to ensure their absence is recorded accordingly. There will be alternate activities for those students who come to school that day. For more information, please visit https://www.studentscommission.ca/events/tokw2024/ . If you have any questions about this event, please email your child’s homeroom teacher or Ms. LeBlanc at hlleblanc@cbe.ab.ca
MPS Veterans
For our upcoming Remembrance Day assembly, we would like to highlight the veterans who are within our MPS family. If you have a veteran (past or present) in your life that you would like to share with the school, we will be creating a photo slideshow that students will watch during the assembly. All photos can be sent to Ms. LeBlanc (hlleblanc@cbe.ab.ca). When sending your photos, be sure to include the name of the veteran, the name of the student, and a line or two about their time served. All photos need to be in by Friday, November 1st.
Student Services
Students who have an Individual Program Plan received a copy of their IPP last week to take home for review, feedback and signatures. Please keep the IPP for your reference and simply detach the signature page to return to school. Any concerns or questions can be directed to your child’s IPP advocate or to Student Services at any point during the school year: Ms. Miles (grades 6/7) and Ms. James (grade 8/9)
