As we head into Teachers’ Convention and Family Day long weekend, we are sharing our weekly update early to keep you connected.
Grade 6 and 7 Outdoor School | Parent Info Meeting | Save the Date!
When? Feb 27, 5:30-6:30
Where? MPS Learning Commons
What? To gauge interest in offering an incredible 2-night, 3-day learning opportunity for a limited number of MPS students in grades 6 and 7 to participate in outdoor school with Kamp Kiwanis
Camp Dates: April 23-25, 2025
Student Services
Individual Program Plans (IPPs) have been sent home. Please review and sign them as soon as possible. If any updates or changes are needed, please connect with your student's IPP advocate promptly. 📄✍️ Thank you to those parents who have already done so.
Grade 6 and 7 | Be Brave Hitmen Game – February 28
Please note: Fees for the Calgary Hitmen are up on PowerSchool and are now due.
There are some great opportunities for some special student experiences at the Hitmen Be Brave game in February. If interested, parents can click here.
MPS Learning Lounge
A reminder that in-person Learning Support Sessions continue to be available for students each morning before classes in the MPS Learning Commons as follows:
· Monday - Thursday from 8:30-9:00 am
· Front doors will be unlocked for student entry from 8:25-8:35 am only. Students must be here by 8:35 at the latest in order to make effective use of this support. Students arriving after this time will need to wait until the doors re-open at the morning bell.
· Students are welcome to attend as often as needed but must come prepared to learn with assignments, homework, test review or specific topics they require support with (ex. polynomials, persuasive essay writing, etc.).
· Students will be provided access to computers when required to utilize D2L and written assignment work only.
Band
February Newsletter Link
Grade 6 Concert – February 27 @ 6:30 pm – and there will be a rehearsal/workshop right after school on Feb 27th for all the Grade 6s to practice together before the concert. There also will be an optional pizza supper of $5 for the students. Please return forms by Feb 24th.
There will be a 50/50 raffle and admission is by donation.
Jazz Band is every Tuesday at lunch and every Friday morning 8:00 am – 9:00 am. This is an extracurricular activity and all band students are welcome to join. Doors open at 7:45 am.
MPS Music Parents Society is looking for a Grade 6 rep and a few people to serve on a fundraising committee. Please reach out to Ms. Hurdman at mpsmpsmusic@gmail.com if you are interested.
The Music Instrument Rental Fee is now on PowerSchool and can be paid.
Fundraisers
TruEarth Laundry Strips: http://tru-earth.sjv.io/MPSMPS A true eco-friendly product. No plastic jugs, just compressed soap strips that clean your laundry, toilet bowls, laundry stains, kitchens, and dishes! This is an ongoing fundraiser.
Bottle Drive – Drop off your empties and support the band!
