Weekly Update September 30-October 4
We had a wonderful evening on Thursday during our annual Meet the Teacher event, with many proud Wolverines touring their parents / guardians and siblings around MPS. Teachers enjoyed the opportunity to share more about themselves and the variety of programs on offer at MPS. We also acknowledged National Truth and Reconciliation Day on Thursday by wearing orange shirts and participating in thoughtfully-planned activities during homeroom. A few updates for you as we head into the long weekend…
Lifetouch School Photos are Ready!
HOW TO access your child’s images online:
After much safety and security testing, Lifetouch developed a way for families to access their child’s photo using their student ID number.
Here are the quick and easy steps to access photos online by using your child’s student ID number:
· Go to mylifetouch.ca
· Click on “Student ID”
· Enter in your school's city, province and school name
· Follow the instructions to view and order your child’s photos
If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the online LIVE chat agent. Parents can still access their photos online by using their child’s portrait ID and access code. By enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, it gives people another way to access photos if they lose their proof sheet.
Lifetouch Customer Care Contact:
Questions about fall photos? Package status, errors, how to place orders, etc.
Please call Lifetouch Customer Care at 1.866.457.8212 or visit the Lifetouch ordering website www.mylifetouch.ca to access the online LIVE chat agent.
Wolverine Gear
If you would like to purchase MPS Wolverine Gear, please click here to order.
The store will close on October 4th, 2024 at 11:59pm after which time no more orders can be accepted. Orders will be delivered to the school 4-5 weeks from the closing date.
Attendance
If your student needs to leave school early, please let the office know whenever possible via the attendance email at mpsattendance@cbe.ab.ca. This will ensure the student is ready in the office when you arrive, reducing waiting time and class disruption.
Chess Club
Welcome to all that love to play chess or would like to learn! Chess club will start October 3. It will be every Thursday at lunch in Room 113. No sign up necessary.
Terry Fox Run
Students participated in our annual Terry Fox Run last Friday. Fundraising continues and donations will be gratefully accepted until Tuesday, October 1st. Remember, for every $2 that a student donates, they will receive a ticket that can be used to enter a draw for prizes. Students can choose which prize draw they want to enter. The following prizes are up for grabs:
- A Terry Fox T-shirt
- An entire lunch hour to use the main gym with just you and up to 15 of your friends
- An entire lunch hour to use the AUX gym with just you and up to 15 of your friends
- An entire lunch hour to use the Learning Commons with just you and up to 15 of your friends
- A candy basket
Students can bring their donations to the foyer during the first half of lunch. Online donations can also be made at https://schools.terryfox.ca/MountainPark
*If you would like tickets for your online donation, please have your child bring in a copy of the receipt, or email Ms. LeBlanc (hlleblanc@cbe.ab.ca) with the amount donated and the name of your child.
Technology
Did you know there’s a free app for D2L called ‘Brightspace Pulse’? After installing it on your cell, search for Calgary Board of Education, use your child’s log in information and password, and gain access to information from all their classes. Turn on push notifications to get instant updates! Contact Ms. Hunt (kohunt@cbe.ab.ca) for assistance.
Physical Education
All students are expected to be changed for physical education class. T-Shirts are available for purchase for $25.00 cash from the physical education office and can be purchased at lunch or afterschool for 15 minutes after the bell. Proper running shoes are essential for safe participation in physical education class.
For the bottom portion of gym strip we are asking students to wear black. The bottoms may consist of shorts, sweatpants, leggings, joggers, or track pants. However, it is important that it is different than what students wear to school for hygiene reasons.
Grade 9 RiverWatch Field Trip
RiverWatch is an exciting field trip where students get to raft down the Bow River, complete water testing and learn about Calgary's diverse river ecosystems. We have our date set for October 2nd. There is limited capacity and we are able to bring 120 students. The students who return signed forms and paid fees will be joining the field trip on a first-come, first-serve basis. We are looking forward and thank you in advance for helping us make this day happen! – Ms. James and Mr. Stickel.

We have received two dates: October 28th and 29th. More details will be released as we have them. If you are interested in volunteering with us please check with the office to confirm your security clearance is up to date. Thank you for supporting our science program – Ms. Birky and Mr. Stickel.
