MPS Weekly Update | April 24, 2026

Canadian Student Alcohol and Drugs Survey

An opportunity for students to participate in Health Canada’s Canadian Student Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CSADS), and your child is eligible to participate. The project is funded by Health Canada and has received permission from your provincial Ministry of Education, school board (if applicable), and school. This letter provides key details about the survey and explains the opt-out process for parents should they choose to opt-out. If you have further questions, please reach out to Brandy Gaunt via email brgaunt@cbe.ab.ca

Radon Gas Study

Earlier this year, a radon gas study was conducted in 30 CBE schools, including Mountain Park.

Detectors were placed throughout the school by a “Certified Radon Professional” and left for about three months between October and March of this school year. The devices were then sent for analysis.

The CBE Indoor Environmental Quality team received the reports. The results confirm that the levels in our school are well within the Health Canada guideline for radon (below 200 Bq/m3) and no further action is required at this time.

If you are interested in finding out more about radon, the risks of radon exposure, and steps that you can take in your home, please see “Radon: What You Need to Know” produced by the government of Canada and available here.
