CBE 2024-2025 School Calendar:  

The 2024-2025 School Calendar has been finalized and posted. A tentative calendar for 2025-2026 has also been posted and is subject to change. Please visit this page for more information and updates about this year's calendar release.

 

Report Cards:

Parents and guardians can now view student report cards in their MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Teachers may also communicate learning progress through parent/teacher conferences, your child’s daily work and assignments, and other ongoing communication with you.

 

One of the primary tools used at MPS is Brightspace by D2L. We recommend that parents sit together with their child to review each of their classes in the Brightspace online platform. Here, you will see updates on weekly assignments, content and resources. As always, you are encouraged to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns at any point in the school year.  

 

Grade 6 – What to Expect in Your Child’s Report Card:

CBE began implementing the new Alberta Education Curriculum:  

 

• Fall 2022 start:  

·       Mathematics (K-3) 

·       English Language Arts and Literature (K-3)  

·       Physical Education and Wellness (K-6)  

• Fall 2023 start:  

·       Mathematics (4-6) 

·       English Language Arts and Literature (4-6)  

·       French Language Arts and Literature (K-3) 

·       Science (K-3) 

·        

In the new curriculum, some things students learn may be new or may have previously been taught in higher grades. Students could be missing foundational pieces from previous grades, and their report card indicators might not be as high as before. This is expected when there is a new curriculum. It might take more than one school year to build these foundational skills. Even though each grade has its own curriculum, many ideas come up again each year, helping students to build on what they already know and do well. 

 

Teachers continue to make learning interesting and inspiring and are adapting to students' needs during this transition. Should you have questions about your child's learning, please reach out to their teacher. 

 

Fees:

As the end of the first semester is fast approaching, we encourage you to please look at your My CBE PowerSchool account for outstanding fees.  These are located under the student fees & service registration tab.  They are for field trips, optional course fees, noon hour activity fee and athletics

 

MPS Council Meeting:

This is a friendly reminder that the MPS Council Meeting will take place on Monday February 5^th, 2024 in the learning Commons at School at 6:30pm.

Jazz Band is cancelled next week as we are away for the Band workshop.

 

BAND WORKSHOP for Grade 7/8/9 is next week!  Please arrive at 7:30 am Tuesday morning with your Winter Boots, Winter Jacket, Snow Pants, Toque, Mitts, Sleeping Bag, Instruments and Music!  We will be back at 3:30pm on Thursday afternoon.  Please pick your child up from school, as they will have a lot of luggage to carry home with them.

Our 2023-2024 yearbooks are now available for purchase.

Volleyball:

What a great turnout to the Junior Boys’ first volleyball game of the season! A very big thank you to all of the parents, families, friends, students, players and coaches who helped clean up the gym after Monday’s Junior Boys’ Volleyball game. Many hands made light work and it was greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the Junior Boys’ next game. Go Wolverines!
