Winter Dance:

We will be having our last school dance of the year on Thursday, December 7^th from 5pm – 8pm. All grade 6 – 9 MPS students are invited to attend. The cost of the dance is $5 at the door. There will be concession items for sale throughout the night. The theme of this dance is “Snowball.” We are also looking for some parent volunteers for the night. If you have your volunteer clearance with the CBE and are willing to help out, please email Ms. LeBlanc at hlleblanc@cbe.ab.ca. Following are the guidelines regarding school dances:

 

·       You must come to school the day of the dance in order to be allowed into the dance

·       Doors open at 5pm

·       Doors will be closed at 6pm. If you are not able to arrive until after 6pm, you need to talk to Ms. LeBlanc BEFORE the day of the dance and let her know you will be there late.

·       Make sure you have parent permission to be there, and if you are leaving early, you will need to provide a note or have your parents come to the door to pick you up. Make sure you also have a drive home at the end of the night. Parents should be there at 8pm prompt for pickup 

 

High School Information for Grade 9 Students:

It seems like so far away but high school conversations have begun! On Wednesday, November 22^nd, all grade 9 students were given a presentation regarding the process for registering for high school. In this presentation we discussed how we will support students through this process. A couple of key dates to keep in mind:

 

Wednesday, November 29^th – Parent Night Regarding the IB Program at Henry WiseWood School

January 16^th-26^th – Counsellors from Beaverbrook will be visiting MPS

January 29, 2024 – Parent Information Night at Beaverbrook

January 30, 2024 – students will be visiting Beaverbrook for a tour

Drama:

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the characters from the Wizard of Oz landed in Wonderland with Alice, the White Rabbit and all the others.  Find out in this year's school drama production "Dorothy in Wonderland".  The audition meeting will be on Tuesday Nov 21^st at lunch in the drama room.  All grades are welcome to attend and should bring their lunch with them.  Auditions will run Nov. 27-30^th.  All the information you need to get started will be provided on Tuesday.  See you there!

Grade 9's have the fabulous Kathie Van Lare coming in to work with them Friday Dec 01 at 8:00 am - 10:00 am for their Guest Conductor workshop.  Don't be late! You won't want to miss this!
